How to Make Healthy Coffee Smoothie
Breakfast should start your day right! Here is an easy and delicious solution that will provide a boost of energy – like having an instant coffee latte on-the-go without all of its extra sugar and calories! Plus it contains healthy ingredients to fuel your body for the day ahead!
Blend together the coffee, milk, pitted dates, almond butter and collagen (or hemp hearts) until smooth. If desired, add ice cubes for more chilled texture; continue blending until desired slushy consistency has been reached.
Your choice of milk could range from cow’s, soy, almond, coconut or plant-based dairy alternatives; I usually opt for 2% milk here; if you want to reduce fat content or have dairy allergies you could omit this step entirely. Cocoa powder provides subtle chocolate flavors; feel free to leave this step out if not desired!
At this stage, it’s a good idea to customize your smoothie even further by adding mix-ins such as chia seeds for extra fiber or hemp or pea protein for protein and healthy fats. For something sweeter, add maple syrup or honey as desired.
Frozen banana is another fantastic way to keep smoothies thick and creamy. Simply peel and freeze a few bananas on a baking sheet the night before your smoothie-making adventure; in the morning all that needs to be done is adding one frozen banana directly into your blender and it’s good to go!
