Is Chai Tea Or Coffee Healthier?
Coffee offers an energy boost thanks to caffeine’s effect on alertness and physical performance; however, for some individuals it can cause anxiety or disrupt sleep patterns.
Chai tea, composed of black tea mixed with ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and black pepper spices, offers a gentler way to boost energy. It may be easier on your stomach than coffee and usually includes milk (or an alternative milk source) for consumption – making it an excellent option if caffeine interferes with sleep or upsets digestion. Furthermore, its L-theanine component slows caffeine absorption so you won’t experience an abrupt caffeine rush or crash!
Both chai tea and coffee offer health advantages, including antioxidants and plant compounds like theaflavins, thearubigins, and spice polyphenols that can improve heart health and cognitive performance. Both can form part of a nutritious diet; just make sure that if caffeine sensitivity is an issue you limit intake to 400 milligrams daily.
