Western Astoria isn’t alone when it comes to offering halal food. Over the last three years, several Muslim restaurateurs have opened with modern takes on New York City cuisine. At Little Flower for example, their soft scrambled egg sandwich features onion puree, cheddar cheese and chives in a milk bun topped off by lamb bacon that curls like prosciutto for an Afghan touch; yet doesn’t restrict itself solely for Muslims.
