Coffee may not come to mind as an effective health booster, but studies show it could do more than give your morning a lift. According to scientists, drinking java could actually lower your risk of kidney stones by helping increase urine production and flush out excess calcium and sodium that contribute to their formation in your body – the same process responsible for creating kidney stones in the first place!

According to one study, coffee may also reduce your risk of liver cancer. This may be because coffee-derived chlorogenic acid may stop certain genes from producing cancer-causing molecules such as acrylamide.

Coffee may help alleviate depression due to its caffeine content, which increases transmission of mood-regulating dopamine in your brain. Furthermore, one study found that coffee may also lower risk for multiple sclerosis by blocking production of inflammatory proteins – another way in which it might protect you against this disabling neurological disease.
