Mushroom Coffee No Caffeine
Mushroom coffee is typically composed of ground coffee beans combined with functional mushrooms such as chaga, reishi, turkey tail cordyceps or lion’s mane for an anti-oxidant boost. Some individuals may be sensitive to these ingredients and desire a caffeine-free version instead.
Though mushroom coffee contains much less caffeine than traditional cups, its 50-70 mg may still interfere with sleep or cause jitters for some individuals. Therefore, it’s wise to monitor consumption and tailor consumption according to personal experiences.
What is it?
Mushroom Coffee No Caffeine is an organic decaf coffee blend featuring three functional mushroom extracts (chaga for natural energy, lion’s mane for mental clarity support and turkey tail for daily immune support) to aid focus, clarity and cognitive function. Free from artificial ingredients or added sweeteners and also vegan and gluten-free!

How to drink it
Mushroom coffee is a caffeinated-free beverage made by combining ground coffee beans (either arabica or robusta, or a blend thereof) with functional mushrooms such as reishi, lion’s mane and chaga for maximum health benefits that include increased immune function, aid digestion, reduced stress and better sleep.
Making mushroom coffee is relatively straightforward: simply fill your cafetiere with water, combine your desired blend of coffee and mushrooms, mix everything well, and let it steep for 5-6 minutes – this allows the caffeine to be extracted without adversely impacting their nutritional benefits.
As soon as your brewing time is up, carefully pour the brew into your preferred cup or mug without disturbing any grounds at the bottom of the cafetiere; doing so could result in bitter or muddy tasting beverages. Once finished with making your latte, thoroughly clean out and rinse out your cafetiere to eliminate any grounds or oils left behind from its use.
Some mushroom coffee brands include an adaptogenic herb like ashwagandha to further strengthen immunity, provide energy boosts and ease stress. Balancing hormones helps support adrenal fatigue. A Cinnamon Vanilla Cordyceps Latte provides both energy-boosting and soothing properties in one glass!
Mushroom coffee has a rich, earthy flavor similar to instant coffee and is therefore an excellent way of cutting back on caffeine without upsetting sensitive stomachs. Enjoy it plain or add milk, honey or sugar for extra taste and enjoyment!
Trying something more elaborate? Try adding spices such as nutmeg or cardamom for an unforgettable latte experience, or try cold plant milk to create an icy cold beverage to soothe hot summer days. With endless combinations available at local health food stores or making it yourself, mushroom-based coffees provide endless opportunities to spice up your coffee experience! To ensure maximum enjoyment choose a high-quality blend that contains premium ingredients without artificial sweeteners – something any homemade coffee should do anyway!
Caffeine content
Many mushroom coffees contain caffeine, while others don’t. When we conducted our testing, most drinks fell into two groups: ground coffee with functional mushroom extracts mixed in (such as Everyday Dose Bold Coffee+ or Four Sigmatic decaf mushroom coffee); and drinks containing chicory, dandelion root or cacao as ingredients such as Ryze Mushroom Coffee, Mud/Wtr Adaptogenic Night Blend or Renude Chagaccino; of which the former group tasted similar to regular coffee while these latter tend to have earthier qualities.
Coffee-free alternatives contained less caffeine, around 50 milligrams per serving. Rasa Adaptogenic Mushroom Coffee was found to contain the lowest concentration, followed by Atlas+ Latte Superblend and Joey. Ground mushroom coffees all had similar levels of caffeine; Shroomi being the sole exception; all others provided approximately equal levels.
Some brands also include ingredients like L-theanine to counteract caffeine’s jittery side effects or ashwagandha to enhance mood, although further research needs to be conducted on these additions in order to establish their efficacy; no guarantees exist as yet as some people find their energy, focus and clarity increase after drinking mushroom coffee while others don’t notice a difference at all. If caffeine sensitivity is an issue for you we recommend trying our picks for best decaf or caffeine-free mushroom coffee as these options might cause reactions for some people; before including adaptogens into your routine it’s important that talk with your physician first as some adaptogens may cause adverse reactions for some individuals.
Other ingredients
Mushroom coffees I sampled often included additional functional ingredients, like ashwagandha to soothe nerves and L-theanine to enhance mood, available as powders or capsules that could be added directly into the blend. Popular additions were turmeric, guarana and cinnamon which not only added extra flavor but also helped mask some of the earthier mushroom blends’ notes.
In the first category were ground coffees featuring mushroom extracts such as Shroomi and Four Sigmatic Focus that could be brewed using traditional methods, tasting similar to regular coffee with an earthy hint from mushrooms. The second category consisted of mixes that contained instant or coffee-free coffee that could quickly be stirred into water or milk to create drinks in under one minute; these options often contained ingredients such as coconut milk powder, stevia or cacao which made for varied flavors depending on individual choices.
Last but not least was decaf mushroom coffee, made using Swiss water decaf combined with adaptogenic herbs like chaga and lion’s mane for an enjoyable cup that still provided energy and cognitive benefits. Perfect if you were trying to reduce caffeine intake while maintaining energy and cognitive benefits.
